Same- and next-business day appointments are available for active patients. For those wishing to join the practice, appointments are typically available within 1-2 weeks.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a subscription payment model designed with the goal to remove the hassles and costs that come with billing insurance to prioritize and restore the doctor-patient relationship as well as emphasize transparent pricing (e.g. no hidden or unknown insurance fees). For a monthly subscription, patients have a primary care physician along with additional benefits - including increased accessibility, longer and unhurried appointments to provide thorough and personalized care.

You may be a patient at Empowered Health with or without insurance.

If you have insurance:

You may still use your insurance as you would for other costs (e.g. labs, imaging, medication, specialist visits). Some patients choose not to use insurance for some of these costs as our negotiated direct prices are often lower.

If you don’t have insurance:

Our subscription payment model works well for patients without insurance. A a family physician, Dr. White is well-trained to meet many of your health care needs. In addition, the transparent pricing of Empowered Health helps you plan for your healthcare costs. We also have additional discounts for labs and imaging. Our service may pair well with high-deductible or health share plans. Empowered Health is not a type of insurance.

Because Medicare and Medicaid have specific rules regarding allowing patients with these insurances, I am not able to accept patients with Medicare, Medicaid, or who are Medicare-eligible at this time.

Absolutely. As a family physician, Dr. White is able to directly provide the majority of many patients’ medical care. She is also trained to know when specialty care is needed.

Dr. White takes care in her referrals. Most of the time, she can recommend a specialist she believes would be the best fit for your goals of care.

To make the most of your appointment with the specialist, Dr white will often recommend key questions to ask and health records to highlight.

Dr. White has also taken the time to get to know many of the resources in the area, helping make referrals to other programs and experts as indicated.

For patients with a membership to Empowered Health, there is no per-visit fee for telephone, virtual or in-office appointments for medical care. There is a small fee for in-home visits and osteopathic manipulation.

Patients are welcome to use their insurance and take orders to a lab or testing center of their choosing.

I have a direct agreement with Quest labs for significantly discounted cash-pay labs (e.g. a basic lab panel is about $20, depending on what is ordered).

I also work closely with local imaging centers which have cash pricing for x-rays, CT scans and MRIs if needed.

I am currently affiliate staff at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital. I do not currently admit my own patients (and am hoping to add this as another service in the future when some additional physicians join me), so I do not have formal admitting privileges. However, I can see Cleveland Clinic records well. I also have some access to records from other healthcare systems in Cleveland as well.

Concierge care often has a higher price point, bills insurance in addition to your monthly or annual subscription (sometimes called a retainer), and often offers 24/7 care.

Empowered Health is a direct primary care practice, striving make high-quality care affordable for the average-income family. We do not bill insurance. Dr. White is like having a doctor in the family - she does her best to return the rare, urgent after-hours call, but does not promise 24/7 care (she enjoys time with her family!).
